Lissy’s Mussels

Here’s one of the best mussel recipes we’ve seen, created by Kristin Sokol from Houston, TX. It uses fresh mussels in white wine, perfectly complemented by BRIANNAS Citrus Mediterranean Marinade.

COOK TIME: 10 Minutes

PREP TIME: 30 Minutes


  • 2 pounds fresh mussels
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1-2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 bottle BRIANNAS Citrus Mediterranean Marinade
  • 1 large shallot, finely chopped
  • ½ cup white wine
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • ½ loaf fresh French bread, sliced

  1. Rinse mussels in cold water for about 30 minutes.
  2. Melt butter in frying pan over medium heat. Add shallot and garlic, cooking until soft and aromatic. Salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Stir in ¾ bottle BRIANNAS Citrus Mediterranean Marinade, white wine, and mussels.
  4. Turn up heat to medium-high and cover pan with lid.
  5. After a few minutes, open lid to see if mussels have opened. Once most of them have, remove them from liquid and set aside in large bowl.
  6. Continue cooking liquid in pan for about 2-3 more minutes, then pour over cooked mussels.
  7. Drizzle the remaining ¼ bottle BRIANNAS Citrus Mediterranean Marinade over the finished mussels.
  8. Brush French bread with olive oil and grill for 2-3 minutes or until crisp.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy!
